Wessel + O'Connor Fine Art is pleased to present for the first time the work of noted photographer David Graham from August 14 - September 27, 2015.

Over the course of his 30 year career, Graham's work has captured the colorful, sometimes surreal, and often bizarre in America. He has tirelessly traveled the US, seeking out subjects that celebrate our uniquely American sense of freedom of expression, whether in colorful roadside attractions or in everyday people reveling in impersonating famous characters - including Elvis, Betty Davis and George Washington.  This exhibit will focus on portraits of the many different personalities he has encountered along the way.

David Graham lives in NewtownPA.  He received a BA from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia and his MFA in Photography from the Tyler School of Art.  He studied under Ray Metzker and was mentored by neighbor, Emmet Gowin.  He has taught at Moore College of Art and is currently on the faculty at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia.

His work is in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; the Art Institute of Chicago; the Philadelphia Museum of Art; the George Eastman House; the International Center of Photography; the Brooklyn Museum and the Biblioteque Nationale in Paris.

Graham has had solo exhibitions at the Institute for Contemporary Art inPhiladelphia, the International Center of Photography in NY, the Cleveland Center for Contemporary Art, and the Michener Museum in Doylestown, among others. His work has appeared in The New York Times, Harper's, The New Yorker, and The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The many books of David Graham's work include Taking Liberties, AlmostParadiseand Declaring Independence, as well as American Beauty and Land of the Free, which were published by Aperture. Signed copies of his books will be available through the gallery.
